Fox News personality Alex Jones says that the world needs to stop taking the planet for granted.
“We’re living in the last chance to fight.
We’re in a planetary crisis.
The last chance of fighting to save humanity,” Jones said in a video posted Monday on his website.
“There are no safe places left to go in the middle of a planetary collapse.”
Jones made his comments in an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, who said the world could not survive without an international plan to address the threat of climate change.
“If you’re going to be a world leader, you have to step up and make this a global problem,” Hewitt said.
“And, Alex, I’ve always been amazed by how you can take a story like this, and then turn it into a national issue.”
Hewitt said that Jones has been able to reach a global audience because he has a large following and a well-documented history of conspiracy theories and anti-government conspiracy theories.
Jones’ comments drew criticism from the Republican establishment, which has called for his resignation over his views on the climate crisis.
“I don’t want to go into this and say that we don’t need a president who understands what he’s talking about,” Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus said on Monday.
“But we need somebody who is really in the business of taking the fight to climate change.”
